Justice Department Sues California Over Impeding Immigration Enforcement

The new federal case represents an escalation of the long-running battle between the Trump administration and the state. California enacted laws last year limiting how businesses and local authorities can cooperate with federal immigration officials, and regarding state inspections of detention facilities holding noncitizens in federal custody.
