Hurricane Maria Strengthens To Category 5

The National Hurricane Center says the "potentially catastrophic" storm will affect the Leeward Islands and the British and U.S. Virgin Islands. The hurricane is also forecast to hit Puerto Rico. It has maximum sustained winds of 160 mph.
