Theory of mind in animals
Theory of mind in animals is an extension to non-human animals of the philosophical and psychological idea of theory of mind (ToM), sometimes called mentalisation or mind-analyzing. It includes an inquiry into whether or not animals have the capacity to characteristic mental states (along with aim, goals, pretending, information) to themselves and others, inclusive of recognition that others have mental states which might be exclusive from their personal.[1][2][3] To look at this difficulty experimentally, researchers place animals in conditions wherein their resulting behavior may be interpreted as supporting ToM or no longer.
