In fact, I regarded it as wasteful and unnecessary. Then, I got my first office job where the fridge was always stocked with La Croix. I learned that popping a chilled sparkling water eases the monotony of working just enough for it to feel like a good idea every day. It was all downhill from there. Is there any reason I need to limit how much I drink? | | A: | Sparkling water is a great beverage choice because it doesn't have added sugar or calories, hydrates like regular water, and still feels a little special.
I'm a huge sparkling water fan myself, but drinking "TONS" may not be your best bet. One problem with drinking only seltzer is that it's more acidic than flat water, so drinking lots of it isn't great for our tooth enamel. Additionally, you miss out on the teeth-protective benefits of fluoridated tap water by drinking lots of fizzy water instead. The bubbles may also make you feel a little bloated.
There isn't much research on how much carbonated water is too much. But if you're experiencing signs of tooth decay and/or digestive discomfort, you might want to drink less of it.
Most people have a problem with not drinking enough water, though — so if sparkling water helps you stay hydrated, it might be a great option.
