We round up three dozen Tiny Desk concerts by Grammy winners, remind you to “watch this” Usher performance, and premiere Tinashe’s Tiny Desk debut.

In last week’s newsletter, I ambitiously promised a roundup of Tiny Desks by every freshly minted Grammy winner. Then, my marvelous colleague and friend Lars Gotrich beat me to the punch by posting a thorough roundup for NPR Music’s website. So, rather than duplicate his work, I’ll merely exploit it by encouraging you to click here for all 36 (thirty-six! XXXVI!) performances from our archive by artists who won Grammys Sunday (including Allison Russell, pictured above).
Most of the 94 Grammys were given out before the prime-time telecast — just nine of the little gramophones were handed out on TV. But of the seven different artists who picked up those Grammys during Sunday night’s show, we have Tiny Desk concerts or Tiny Desk (home) concerts from four of them: Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Karol G and Miley Cyrus. Multi-award-winners such as boygenius, Fred again.., Chris Stapleton, Killer Mike (with Run the Jewels), Jason Isbell, Paramore and the trio of Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer have played the series, as well. But the list Lars assembled runs even deeper, traversing gospel, blues, classical, opera, Latin rock and pop and jazz, contemporary Christian music, alternative jazz and more.
If you watched the Grammys on CBS, you didn’t get to see many of these artists. So dig around! There are some remarkable, world-expanding, award-worthy (!) discoveries floating around in there.

You might just encounter the music of R&B superstar Usher this Sunday, when he performs on a stage just a tiny bit larger than our own. So now’s an excellent time to revisit his viral — and wildly magnetic — performance in our offices back in 2022. And don’t miss this fantastic look at Usher’s career from my brilliant colleague, Sheldon Pearce.

Tiny Desk Contest update
This year’s 10th annual Tiny Desk Contest remains open for submissions, so be sure and spread the word to any talented, unsigned musicians you might know.

Phoebe Bridgersand Killer Mike took home a combined seven (7) Grammys last week, and if you’re wondering why, their talent is on full display in these two KEXP sessions.
Meshell Ndegeocello won the first-ever Grammy for alternative jazz album. KCRW hosted the bassist way back in 2014.
Laufey might just be the Grammys’ new traditional pop darling. New York City's WFUV welcomed her into its studios to perform the title track from her award-winning Bewitched.
Jason Isbell’s “Cast Iron Skillet” was awarded best American roots song, and North Texas Member station KXT was lucky enough to capture it live in the studio.
