| Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. But that doesn't mean they're ideal for everyone's daily diet. For example, you may be allergic to eggs or maybe your doctor recommended that you limit how many you eat due to your heart health. | So what other (nutritious) options exist to satisfy your hunger in the morning? Annie Hibbs, a registered dietitian, is back with some ideas. | | | | Enjoy your morning! Ginger Wojcik Newsletter Editor, Healthline | | | Written by Ginger Wojcik August 29, 2024 • 3.5 min read | | | | | | Q: | What are some filling breakfast ideas that don't include eggs? | | A: | Protein is beneficial to add at breakfast — really all meals — because it takes the body longer to digest, helping you feel satisfied and full longer. When we can pair a higher fiber carbohydrate with protein at breakfast, that's going to help you ride that fullness feeling for several hours.
But as a typical go-to protein source at breakfast, it's easy to get burned out on eggs. Some non-egg protein plus high fiber carbohydrate breakfast ideas are: - Oatmeal with nuts.
- A tofu scramble (without eggs). This can also be a great way to sneak in more vegetables.
- Whole wheat toast with peanut butter. You can add some sliced strawberries or bananas on top or, if you like a little crunch, some chia or hemp seeds.
- Greek yogurt with nuts and fruit. Using plain yogurt decreases added sugar, and the fruit can add some sweetness.
- A fruit smoothie with Greek yogurt or silken tofu or nut butter.
- Cottage cheese and fruit.
- A tortilla wrap with hummus, beans, and a mix of vegetables. You can also add some shredded cheese.
