Every weekday for more than three decades, Carl Kasell brought unflappable authority to the news. But behind the scenes the newsman had plenty of surprises, including a love of magic tricks and a lively sense of humor, which he put to work late in his career as the beloved judge and scorekeeper for Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, NPR's news quiz show. Kasell died Tuesday from complications from Alzheimer's disease in Potomac, Md. He was 84. |
