In a Nutshell
Do you ever wake up from a nap not knowing which century you're in? Or immediately want to fall back asleep because it didn't give you the energy boost you desperately needed? There's a strong chance you might not be napping properly — and yes, there is a right way to nap. Who knew? Let us show you the way.

Nap better to reap the most benefits
🛌 Why napping is good for your health. Our bodies need rest to thrive. ICYMI: Sleep deprivation could lead to some serious side effects, such as trouble thinking, high blood pressure, raised risk of heart disease, and poor balance. Research suggests naps (when done properly!) can boost your mental and physical health and reduce those risks of not catching enough Zzz's. For example, napping might help you feel more alert, improve memory, and increase immunity.

🙅 Stop making these napping mistakes! I'm guilty of all of the following: sleeping for over an hour, setting a blaring alarm to wake myself up, and falling asleep too late in the day. Doing any of the above can cause you to wake up groggy or even sleepier than before.

💤 A quick nap FAQ (or shall we say power FAQ?):
  • How long should you nap? 20–30 minutes.
  • When's the best time to nap? Between 1 and 3 p.m. — whatever the midpoint of your day is. (And at the same time every day if possible!)
  • What's the best way to wake up? An alarm that gradually increases in volume.
  • Who should avoid naps? Folks who have insomnia.
  • Where should you nap? A couch or comfy chair (yes, NOT your bed!).

NodPod Gentle Pressure Sleep Mask
NodPod Gentle Pressure Sleep Mask
Darkness is one key factor for sleeping well. Especially if you're napping during broad daylight, consider checking out NodPod's gentle pressure eye mask. While weighted eye masks aren't studied as well as weighted blankets, the concept is the same: They're meant to offer extra comfort and block out light so you can get deeper, better rest. And the NodPod option is way more stylish than a regular sleep mask!
