In a Nutshell
How much water do you drink per day? I'll go first: Not enough. I carry my emotional support water bottle with me everywhere I go, but I don't always drink it. After a little bit of research, I learned that this could be contributing to my "midday crash," not to mention other signs of dehydration.
Today, find out how to tell if you're underhydrated, plus easy ways to consume "enough" water every day.
Let's kick things off with some interesting stories, shall we?

Are you drinking enough water?
what's got us buzzing
Are you drinking enough water?
How much water you need to drink every day depends on a bunch of factors, like your environment, diet, and activity levels. As a general goal, The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine suggests drinking 11.5 cups per day for women and 15.5 cups for men. *gulp*
Not drinking that much? How can you tell if you're dehydrated? Here are some sneaky signs to look out for:
  • You feel more tired than usual.
  • Your lips are cracked, and your skin is dry.
  • You get frequent headaches.
  • You feel lightheaded or dizzy.
  • Your blood pressure is low.
  • You have trouble concentrating.
  • You don't pee often, and it's a dark color when you do.
Speaking of pee color, peep this chart to tell how hydrated you might be!
Are you drinking enough water?
A lot of the symptoms listed above can overlap with other conditions. To play it safe, consider seeing a doctor to figure out if it's due to dehydration or another underlying cause.
If you think you need to up your water intake, try any of these tips:
  • Replace lost fluids with electrolyte drinks.
  • Consume foods that are high in fluids, like soups and fruits.
  • Drink coffee, tea, and sparkling water. (They count!)
  • Infuse water with yummy flavors, like lemon, mint, or cherry juice.
  • Use a water bottle with hourly goal markers and motivational quotes.
