Hurricane Laura Comes Ashore Threatening 'Unsurvivable' Storm Surge

The storm made landfall with maximum sustained winds of 150 miles per hour, just 7 miles per hour short of Category 5 classification. Laura is forecast to move inland overnight and farther into northwestern Louisiana on Thursday.
