Our expectations of work have been changing. Whether you’re a cubicle-dweller, side gig hustler, or blue-collar breadwinner, we’re all experiencing some major shifts in the idea of what a workplace should look and feel like. We’ve certainly changed - but can the culture of work finally change with us? In the latest season of Rough Translation, we’ll be traveling the globe and riding shotgun with workers to see how people have changed their relationship to their jobs. From a mysterious man who inspired a “slacker revolution” in China, to an American trans woman trucker changing the rules of the road; from Portuguese fines for after-hours emails, to the ways that a war can change how Ukrainians look at work (and how work can change how they see a war), Rough Translation’s @Work explores what happens when international workplace norms are challenged both by local customs and homegrown rule-breakers. Hosted by Gregory Warner, alongside on-the-ground journalists and reporters, you’ll hear @Work right in your Rough Translation show feed. Subscribe to the series here - or wherever you get your podcasts - and get ready to ask yourself: who are we, really, at work? |
