May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Let's Take the Next Step, Together. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're thinking about our health and well-being in new ways at Healthline, in partnership with our sister site Psych Central. Our ultimate goal: to help people take the next step for their emotional wellness. That's why in addition to a completely revised and updated Mental Well-Being hub, we've created resources across our sites and social outlets to help you (and those you love), no matter where you are in your mental health journey. Mental well-being is a timeless topic, but for us, this work has taken on a special significance as the effects of the ongoing pandemic, global conflicts, and injustices here at home are becoming more clear, especially for children and young adults. In particular, we've seen how social media has played the precarious role of both connector and isolator during this challenging time. In 2021, people all around the globe used social media for an average of 2.5 hours a day. But while you were keeping up with friends across the world, you may also have been experiencing more anxiety, depression, and a lack of focus. If, like us, you've found yourself doomscrolling, or you'd just like to practice being more present, Healthline and Psych Central are offering up our Slow Your Scroll newsletter challenge. In it, you'll learn the science behind how social media affects us and what you can do about it, including building better habits around your (and your family's) usage through the use of evidence-backed techniques. Click here to receive these 10 daily emails (Privacy Policy). And there is so much more on our Mental Well-Being hub. From figuring out whether therapy makes sense for you to how to start a daily meditation practice and coping strategies for parents, we've got you and your family. |
