One of the biggest perks of working at NPR Music is, of course, getting to watch Tiny Desk concerts every week. Having our own not-famous desks just a few feet away from Bob Boilen’s very celebrated desks was something – we swear! – we never took for granted. At the beginning of the year, we published Tiny Desks from artists your newsletter editors have admired for years, like Jenny Lewis, and up-and-coming artists we love, like Angelica Garcia. We even got to introduce Harry Styles.
But, of course, 2020 had different plans. When we all started working from home, the Tiny Desk did too. With touring on hold and many countries in lockdown, we asked some of our favorite artists to record their own Tiny Desk concerts from home, not sure what to expect. Artists from around the world embraced the idea, and we’ve published 128 home concerts with more to come.
