President-elect Joe Biden will name ex-Fed Chair Janet Yellen as treasury secretary. It's the latest in a string of diverse, high-profile nominees.
Along with selecting the first woman to lead the Treasury Department, Biden is set to nominate Alejandro Mayorkas, a deputy secretary in the Department of Homeland Security during the Obama administration, to be the first Latino and immigrant DHS secretary.
Avril Haines, tapped to serve as director of national intelligence, would become the first woman to lead the intelligence community. She previously was deputy national security adviser and deputy director of the CIA. |
