Cokie Roberts, Pioneering Female Journalist Who Helped Shape NPR, Dies at 75

Roberts, a veteran journalist and one of NPR's longest-running and most recognizable voices, has died at the age of 75. She joined NPR to cover Congress in 1978 and has been a regular presence as a commentator on Morning Edition for decades. 

Between her television work for ABC News and her work for NPR in radio, Roberts has been hailed as among the greatest women in broadcasting. She was also a prolific author, documenting women's roles in American history in several New York Times bestsellers, including Ladies of Liberty and Founding Mothers.
