The outlook for long-term care is ... yikes. With a huge number of staff outages linked to omicron, nursing home workers have had to put in extra hours, do double shifts and forget about a vacation anytime soon. Hundreds of thousands of workers have quit since the pandemic began and experts say recovery isn't likely anytime soon. Maybe next time you visit a friend or family member in a long-term care facility, bring the workers a smile and a kind word (and maybe cookies).
