Last June, Kia Miakka Natisse and Yowei Shaw were named the new hosts of Invisibilia, NPR’s chart-topping longform narrative podcast. The re-launch of Invisibilia shifts the podcast's focus to challenging the forces and powers of the status-quo. This new season will feature stories asking listeners to examine their place in the world, at a time when fresh perspectives are desperately needed.
Across five episodes, the hosts and reporter/producers Abby Wendle and Andrew Mambo explore a social experiment in Vermont that looks at what happens when people demand reparations from their neighbors; how a upstart local website is revolting against the mainstream media and shaking up one California city; and take you on an experiential journey that examines what entertainment is at its core (and why America's appetite for TV entertainment can't accommodate a seven hour train ride).
The first half of the new season is out now:
Episode 1 - Eat The Rich: Explores a social experiment with money, focused around a contentious topic: reparations.
Episode 2 - The Chaos Machine: An Endless Hole: In part 1 of The Chaos Machine series, what happens when traditional local news runs out of resources and reporting the narrative of a community is anybody's game?
Episode 3 - The Chaos Machine: Wrathful Lord: In part 2 of The Chaos Machine series, co-host Yowei Shaw ends up at the frontlines of a revolt against the mainstream media and a fight over who gets to own the truth.
