This year has been a year like no other. The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted everything in the music world, including musicians’ ability to make a living, and the survival of the clubs and concert venues we love. The NPR Music team has had to adjust, too, staying connected while working remotely and even reimagining our Tiny Desk concerts and Contest. With your help, we’ve been able to sustain and grow our journalism that is vital to understanding our times.

Editors Marissa Lorusso and Lyndsey McKenna sift through all the content we publish each week, including content from our member music stations, to offer you a unique take on the week’s news.
This year, we’ve offered behind-the-scenes stories about our coverage of protest music, and new projects like Louder Than a Riot, Amplify With Lara Downes and We Insist. In the absence of festivals and live events, we’ve created new programs on YouTube and Instagram to connect with our audiences. In many ways, the importance of music in our lives became clearer than ever — as a source of calm and support, and as an expression of the most intense and important struggles and debates in our culture.
