Watch Undiscovered Musicians Get Discovered!

Growing tired of your usual music diet? There’s a world of unheard bangers, riffs and perfect hooks on public radio’s largest talent show

Each Thursday, at 3 p.m. EDT (12 p.m. PDT), join NPR Music’s Bob Boilen — creator of the Tiny Desk concert series, host of the All Songs Considered podcast and avid music obsessive — for Tiny Desk Contest Top Shelf, a weekly video livestream series featuring the best entries to the 2020 Tiny Desk Contest, NPR’s biggest music competition.

Since 2015, we’ve held the Tiny Desk Contest as a way to showcase unsigned artists’ talent. Entry to the contest requires that an artist play an original song in front of a desk — any desk! —and share their art with passion. After our panel of esteemed judges deliberates carefully over each video, our winner will earn a Tiny Desk concert of their own.

This year, we’re bringing you along for the ride. Each week, Boilen and a featured guest go live on NPR Music’s YouTube channel to share, discuss and celebrate their favorite submissions. Part interview and part listening party, you’ll hear from some of the most creative up-and-coming musicians across the country, playing in their bedrooms and practice spaces (as well as in a greenhouse, a laundromat, a kitchen) across a range of genres and styles. This year, the Tiny Desk Contest received over 6,000 songs from artists who all hope to play their own Tiny Desk concert. Later this summer, one of them will be crowned this year’s winner.

So join us! Tune in for the banter, sound off in the comments and discover a new favorite song you won’t be able to stop listening to. Click the links below to watch past episodes, and RSVP here for the next one.
