Tracee Ellis Ross On The Pandemic, Protests, And Black Joy

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross Is Thriving, Not Surviving

Nationwide protests. An economic recession. A global pandemic. It’s a lot to process, and NPR host Sam Sanders is here to help. Each week on his show, It’s Been a Minute, Sam sits down with writers, comedians, and other cultural figures to try and make sense of what’s happening. And he does it all with his trademark warmth and empathy.

In his latest episode, Sam talks to actress, singer, and Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross about the moment we’re in. She tells Sam about Black joy and resilience in the face of uncertainty, and how she pushes back against age, race, and gender stereotypes.

Find out how she tackled her fears of onscreen singing for her latest film, The High Note, and why, at 47, she’s the most comfortable in her skin she’s ever been. You can listen to the full episode here, and subscribe to get a new episode in your feed every Tuesday and Friday.
