Más stories. Más music. Más chisme. |
There are still nine days left in Latinx Heritage Month and we continue to roll out different ways to celebrate and honor all things Latino/a/x. Beginning with a relaunch. After an extended hiatus to reimagine the show, Alt.Latino is back with a new co-host! Anamaria Sayre now joins veteran host Felix Contreras at the helm. Their new approach sees them exploring all flavors of Latin music and the ways it reflects and informs Latinx cultura. As Ana shares the mic with Felix, you can expect an even more conversational approach and plenty of thoughtful chisme between two generations. Recent guests include R&B superstar Omar Apollo, Spanish pop and flamenco singer Rosalía, and this year’s Tiny Desk Contest winner, Alisa Amador. New episodes drop every Wednesday and you can listen to the first four interviews in that new style here. |
Speaking of Omar and Rosalía, they’re just two of the ten artists performing as part of this year’s takeover of the Tiny Desk concert series known as “El Tiny.” Now in its second year, El Tiny honors the wide range of sounds and experiences that make up Latinx heritage. Other performers this year include Afro-Peruvian vocalist Susana Baca, Mexican R&B singer Girl Ultra, and Argentinean rapper Trueno. As they’re released, the videos of those performances can be found here. |

And finally, for more bold stories from Latin America and the Latinx community around the world, Radio Ambulante is back with its twelfth season. New episodes of NPR’s award-winning, Spanish-language podcast feature stories about a very weird dog that becomes front-page news in Peru, the time Superman flew to Chile for some real-life heroics, and the activists who infiltrated an Austrian museum to reclaim a controversial Mexican artifact. You can listen to the first stories of the season here, and hear new ones every Tuesday. |
Celebrate Latinx heritage with these shows this week, next week, and all year long. ¡Eso! |
